Our growing team comprises of the brightest and best young talent, led by our highly experienced owner and chartered quantity surveyor, Richard. We pride ourselves on our team’s ideal mix of enthusiasm, innovation, experience & expertise and our unique capacity to approach every project with new eyes.

Richard Neilson

Director and Owner
Richard is the Director and Owner of Quantum Solutions.
He graduated in Quantity Surveying in 1998 and qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 2005. Prior to establishing Quantum Solutions he held senior positions with national developers and contractors such as Dandara and the Kier Group where his projects included the Glasgow Harbour Phase 2 Development.
He established Quantum Solutions in 2009.
Richard is known for his enthusiasm, commitment to the profession, attention to detail and focus on ensuring that costs are managed across the lifecycle of the contract from a client and contractor perspective. His approach is to focus on what is best for the contract from the choice of contracts to ensure all client requirements are fully delivered and changes are managed. He is a trusted member of any team and many assignments and projects are referrals from previous clients.
Richard has built a successful Quantity Surveying, Cost Management and Project Management business with many clients in the public and private sector and has been involved in prestigious projects ranging from affordable housing to turnkey distillery developments. This includes working with remote and rural communities and enterprises and being able to build empathy and trust with all key stakeholders quickly.
Richard promotes and champions Quantum Solutions’ values of Professional, Motivated, Innovative and Collaborative as key elements of how we work as a business. This manifested itself in Quantum Solutions becoming a Regulated Chartered Surveyor practice in 2019.

Kenny Dudgeon
BSc (Hons)
Associate
Kenny is an Associate with Quantum Solutions and an integral part of the team.
Kenny graduated in Quantity Surveying in 2011, achieving his degree while employed as a Quantity Surveyor with Balfour Beatty. During nine years with the company, he climbed the ranks to Senior Quantity Surveyor, working on high profile projects with the NHS, local authority and private sector.
Kenny’s involvement included the £100 million New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow’s Southside, Atlantic Quay Building 5 on the Clyde Broomielaw, Calderhead High School in Shotts and the £46 million Woodlands View Community Hospital at Ayrshire Central in Irvine which was completed in April 2016.
Kenny joined Quantum Solutions in 2016, bringing with him extensive experience in construction contracts, including Design and Build (PFI and NPD), NEC 3 and Traditional, together with a high level of technical knowledge of design and construction buildability. Exceptionally driven, he demonstrates Quantum’s values and commitment to clients on a daily basis.
Since working with Quantum Solutions, Kenny has played a pivotal role in managing a variety of important projects.
To ensure that projects are managed professionally, Kenny ensures to collaborate closely with the client and supporting design team members and always provides a courteous, helpful and prompt service, always delivering in a positive and constructive manner.
Kenny also promotes and champions Quantum Solutions’ values of Professional, Motivated, Innovative and Collaborative as key elements of how he works.

Janice Steel
BSc (Hons) MRICS MCIOB
Associate
Janice joins us with a background of over 25 years experience in the industry.
Beginning her professional career with main and specialist contracting, Janice then moved into the education sector, lecturing in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying as course leader from her extensive industry experience.
Missing the buzz of on-site work, Janice eventually made the move back to construction, holding the roles of Capital Project Manager and Senior Project Manager in the further and higher education sectors.
Delivering projects to upgrade the learning and teaching facilities for both Ayrshire College and five campuses for the University of the West of Scotland, Janice managed the internal fit-out of the new UWS London Campus at East India Docklands. This project was delivered online over lockdown, presenting various new challenges and opportunities in an ever-changing period across the industry.
Janice’s skillset within quantity surveying and project management makes her a terrific addition to the Quantum Solutions team, with a keen attitude to constantly learn and bring an intuitive work ethic to every project.

Daniel Girvan
BSc (Hons)
Quantity Surveyor
Daniel joins us after completing his degree at Herriot Watt University and is his Honours year at Glasgow Caledonian University.
He has now become a permanent and valued member of our team, and brings an elevated insight and support to the range of exciting projects we have on the go.
Daniel’s passion and interest in the construction industry led him to pursue a career in Quantity Surveying. With no two days being the same, it can be a challenging job, however, we believe finding the right solution for any problem that arises is the mark of a great QS!
With a realisation that no two jobs in Quantity Surveying are the same, Daniel decided that this was the career for him. His problem-solving mindset benefits our clients with an ability to overcome any obstacles quickly and efficiently, offering a fervent attitude to both onsite and office tasks required to complete each project.

Fraser Florence
Trainee Quantity
Surveyor
Fraser joins the Quantum Solutions team during his time at Glasgow Caledonian where he’s studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying.
Now finished his first year, Fraser continues to juggle both his studies and his workload at QS, providing hands-on assistance to the team on our range of exciting projects.
Fraser is gaining experience in specialist QS skills that will complement his studies, enjoying the opportunity to learn and develop his skillset in the industry.
We’re keen to support the future of talent in the industry, so we’re thrilled to have Fraser on board to learn from our team’s expertise and share some ideas of his own along the way.
Lynda McLeod
Office Manager
Our Office Manager Lynda is the newest member of the Quantum team, joining us in August 2023.
Entering her role with a wealth of experience as a Stock Integrity Manager in retail, Lynda is well-versed in improving efficiency throughout the team and the office.
Dedicated to creating a collaborative and structured workplace, Lynda is a crucial member of the team and brings a fresh perspective to our projects.
