Preserving a piece of history
In 2019, we were appointed as Quantity Surveyors to oversee work restoring the building to its original glory to serve local businesses and organisations to promote tourism in the local area.
Not only providing conservation works to the existing building, the project focused on extending the building to offer several new and efficient use cases for the space.
We’re thrilled that the project was recognised with a Commendation at the Dumfries & Galloway Design Awards, in the Conversion and Extension to a Building category.
project requirements
We worked alongside Architects Smith Scott Mullan Associates to plan and carry out the project, taking inspiration from the surrounding seaside landscape to enhance the setting of the building.
Not only focusing on the interior, the space surrounding the building was upgraded, with a focus on sustainable and future-proof materials that are built to last.
As one of the area’s few Art Deco buildings, and the only surviving inter-war industrial building in Stranraer, great detail was taken at each step of the process to ensure history was respected and maintained whilst building and renovating for the future.
