The Douglas Hotel
Quantum Solutions was appointed by The Douglas Hotel in April 2016 to provide Project Management and Quantity Surveying services on their proposed Woodland Accommodation development on two sites next to their existing hotel.
Situated in the picturesque Isle of Arran, The Douglas Hotel has a rich history of over 200 years, with a legacy spanning multiple extensions and updates to the property. This story was key to ensuring our project truly captured the generations of guests visiting the hotel over the years.
Our brief was to work in conjunction with Norroen Architects from Copenhagen, and introduce a Team of other relevant specialist consultants. Our role was to develop a design for both identified sites which worked with the Client’s original brief.
This was a complex site as it had 117 trees present on both sites, therefore the design had to be developed to work within the confines of a woodland environment and the design had to represent its surrounding environment.
Between June – December 2016, we worked closely with The Douglas Hotel and the Team and submitted a formal Planning application for the two sites on 24 December 2016 for 60 accommodation units. Planning Approval was successfully given in March 2017, therefore a very successful exercise was carried out.
